Hi,
I went through your 5 min acid crusher video and was impressed on knowing how easy it is to get your body alkaline. My body has turned very acidic for the last few years as I eat strictly non-vegetrarian food. Recently, I have discovered that I have high uric acid in my blood. My feet and all joints have started paining a lot. Also due to high acid flow in my urine I have have lot of burning sensation while passing urine. I wish to follow the 4 steps that you have mentioned in the video. Breathing and lime water is fine but where will i find the salts that you showcased. Also, I hate vegetables, fruits but to drink the vegetable juice that you described is bit easy. Eating vegetbale food is so difficult for me as it has no taste. Please let me know how do you prepare this vegetable juice, I know the ingredients from the video but have no clue how to make one. Do I have to boil the vegetables before putting that in the juicer. How much of water does I need to put? etc. etc. Please reply to me at your earliest convinence. Thank you. Amal
P,S. I live in Dublin, Ireland.

The alkaline diet is a Way of Life–it is a commitment of the heart and the mind. I totally believe in the process of eating alkaline.
It would be helpful to have a brief explanation of what the alkaline diet is. And there is much more than foods and preparation of foods that go into a life style change.

Hi Ross!
Excellent video!!! I´m looking forward to see all the others! I´m a therapist and I live and work in Barcelona, Spain. I truly believe in balancing our Ph and I´m a fan of the alkaline diet, in fact I´m giving lectures all over Spain explaining the benefits of being alkaline, not only fot the body but for the mind and consciousness! Dr. Young´s book in spanish is finally coming out soon!
My question is, are you acquainted with the “Gerson therapy”? Dr.Max Gerson M.D., developed an amazing way of curing all deseases, a proven nutritional program for cancer and other illnesses. His program is quite similar but it differs in certain things as for example, he said that one should avoid totally anything containing “sodium”, avoid cucumbers, advocados, and olive oil.
Anyway, congratulations again for your fantastic web site!

Sodium is an absolute necessity – but the same way as there are good and bad fats, there are good and bad salts.
Avocado too is critical to optimal health. I agree with a fair amount of Gerson, but not these points at all.

Now I love to drink veggie juice, green juices but there are some experts in the nutrition field that claim that vegetable juices (green juices, etc.) are an overload of PUFA (a tall glass of PUFA) and something to avoid if hypothyroid. Hi Ross!! You remind me of my oriental fights trainer-in a positive way! He started with the same thing each time-with rising our will power.
My experience:one day on acid food (when going out with friends) the damage is not very significant.
It’s easy to start anew. Or just starve one day. The problems start when eating everyday a little bit more, like putting sugar in my tea, having snacks and chokolates-it’s hard to stop. After I have to add some salt and vinegar souces to meat meals because I cannot feel the taste anymore. No,it doesn’t make me fat,the bad things accumulate, and one day I feel sick again. As for me-I have to cut off all sugar containing food at all whatever healthy it is decided-even oranges, kivi, mango.( I have celiac-any sweet fruits cause me terrible digestion problems). I feel better without, really

Also, I don’t believe anything is equally good for EVERYBODY.
I have some questions….
1. How much water should one drink? Can one drink too much water?
2- I am a social weekend wine drinker and it’s a cultural thing amongst ALL of my friends. How will liquor consumption play into the scenario of the alkaline goal?If I am not willing to give up drinking do I just give up on the alkaline diet all together?

The one problem I have found time and time again is the lack of info on how to regain the weight lost due to the alkaline diet. Weight loss is usual on this diet and, most are happy about that, but for some people it is unwelcome.

Would welcome suggestions as I feel this the one problem that has not received much info.

Hi Ross. This is a brilliant video, coming just when I needed it most! It’s so amazing, just learning that when you really want something (from the body not in the mind!) it happens. It is so true that the planning it vital. We have always done this when it came to eating before, but for some reason it feels harder when you first start alkalizing. That’s what I found. Now, I have a fridge full of all the food I need to make my meals for the next few days. Don’t just go round buying things, thinks about how they are going to go together as a meal. Then Bang! it becomes so much easier. You and the alkaline diet HAVE changed everything for me. 12 months ago I was spending my days just trying to get out of bed and get my limbs movin. I had been diagnosed with Rhuematoid Arthritis. I ached and hurst all over and often spent 2/3 days in bed at a time, totally fatigued and exhausted. Now, I am (almost) back to how I was before. Loads more energy, completely off the painkillers (which were my bed friends) and lowering my medication (after consultation with my doctors). It is truely amazing. Thank you so much x

I have cut out all meat, all dairy, I juice 2x daily, take Ph supplements all day, I take two shots of chorophyll and and add wheatgrass, supergreens and spirulina each day. I am so confused as to why it is getting worse. Pleeeasee help me understand. The only thing I have not done is a cleanse. My ph seems to raise and lower around my hormones but with all I am doing I would think I would be consistently at altleast a 7.0 via saliva testing.

Hi Ross, Hi Everybody!
Great site. great mission! I am very happy to have found your site.
I want to share little bit my experience with the diet up to now (maybe someone wants to add comments to this) and finally i have also a concrete question.
How I entered the topic: By a friends recommendation I have read dr youngs phmiracle to find maybe an answer how to find optimal health. After reading the book, I had so much questions in my head and had no clear vision about how to do even a first single step right or lets say not to make a wrong step. Exactlly how you said in your video! i thought i will have to read it at minimum three times again to get clear vision of starting out with the right hundreds of supplements. it was really hard to make a summary or excerpt of the book because everything seemed important to me. your videos really helped and motivated me deeply to try the diet for getting rid of my health problems. I want to totally commit to alkaline diet and your site truely helps. I filled up the fridge with lots of veggies and other good stuff as you listed and i bought also supplements (phour salt, phion drops, udos oil and mega greens) just to be really really good equiped for starting out. After only some days sticking stubborn to my 3-4 liter goal I felt truely a huge different. According to the formula I should drink even more (i have 89kg). I will try daily to increase further to stick to the formula.
Regarding the supplements, I also felt much more mental clearity after they arrived by dpd. So I feel that it is realy doing something good to me. Only after a week of doing this I reached a state of being awake and mentaly clear I never reached doing anything else. I hope to find out in the next months that my immune system will hopefully truely get boosted. I somehow also feel hiddenly massively appealed from the promise to have such a peek performing biosystem to reach the 5 hour gain you mentioned.
Finally here is my last paragraph for my concrete question: when reading the backside of phour salt it says something like dont use one hour before or after meal. i bought also sodabicarbonate from the pharmacy shop to alkalize my water for the first days with it until the dpd package with the actual supplements arrived. and at the backside of this sodabic.box was a big warning saying “too high dosis will alkalize your stomach and deactivate temporarily your digestion” (translated by me from german). Is there a rule of thumb I maybe totaly stupidly have missed in the phmiracle book or your video where one should generally skip drinking alkaline water when having the meals to support the digestion? Thanks for your answers!! Sorry for the long post.
cheers!

I had so much questions in my head and had no clear vision about how to do even a first single step right or lets say not to make a wrong step
EXACTLY why I’m here
People make way too much of drinking water and it affecting digestion. You’d need to drink a LOT for this to happen, but if you’re concerned leave it 20 mins either side.
You should really only use pHour Salts once or twice per day in my opinion, so this shouldn’t affect your meal timing too much.
Thanks so much for sharing your story!

Hi Ross,
Just watched your video, looking forward to the recipes. I’m a chef by trade and have a wheat allergy, so some of the acid foods I cannot touch, like the flour products.
In November, I was diagnosed with ulcers, Peptic and Duodenal, which were painful and resulted with bad acid reflux etc. I’m on the usual drugs for controlling the acids, Omezoprasol, which helps. I also had my Gall bladder removed some years ago, so I had already resorted to a low fat diet long ago. No! processed foods or takeaways.
That’s when I started to look at my diet, so I immediately cut out the usual, alcohol, coffee, tea (although I continue drinking my green tea) chocolate, tomatoes, spices, vinegars etc. I found your web site and downloaded your charts and did the urine tests etc and found I was acidic, I’m more alkaline these days and it’s very rare that I eat any sort of meats, however, I do love my fish.
Anyway, I thought my comments might help those with ulcers and Gerd etc, to take a serious look at their acid and alkaline diets, as I’m sure they will notice, that it does make a difference. I slip back some days, and have a couple of day’s eating bland foods and the odd glass of wine, then go back to alkaline eating. And just a last comments, I found that my joints were beginning to be very stiff in the mornings before, and now I am finding it a lot easier to move and bend.
Thanks for making me aware!
Kind Regards Dee

Thank you so much for the helpful advice on getting starting on this diet. I am having a hard time breaking my bad habits, diet Coke, cheeseburger & fries. I do need to do something about all this due to health issues, I am 40 and have had a few new issues come up besides always being tired. I don’t need to lose weight, but do need to get in shape because I get so out of breath just walking up a flight of stairs or just a block. That is bad. How long should it take following the alkaline diet before your pH starts to change? I’ve been on it faithfully for almost 3 weeks and the pH strip still doesn’t even change color. I bought another brand from another store thinking maybe the strips were no good, but I have the same results. Any suggestions?

Hey Jan – its a bit of a ‘how long is a piece of string question’ I’m afraid. Totally depends on where you are coming from, whether you do it all or just some of it, what the quality of your water is, whether you exercise and what type of exercise you do – there are a million factors.
The most important point though is this: if you follow the steps I teach in these four videos you WILL get alkaline.
I absolutely promise that.
Again, there are lots of variables that will affect your results of your pH strip. Follow my instructions here to ensure you get a reliable and accurate reading: http://www.energiseforlife.com/wordpress/2006/04/12/alkaline-test-how-to-test-your-ph-levels-saliva-urine/

Hello Ross,
It’s great to see how passionate and eager you are on health, food and helping other people… but… the whole alkaline diet has no scientific nor practice basis at all!
The good thing is leaving out all the processed rubbish!
If you really want the best for health… take a good look at the paleo die, read the whole story!
With all due respect…
Kind regards,
Paul

Hi Paul
I fully believe in the science behind this, but even if I didn’t – I don’t actually believe it NEEDS science to tell me to:
1) eat lots of fresh foods, raw foods, green foods, high water content foods, healthy fats
2) get properly hydrated
3) exercise
4) stop eating crap.
I personally do like the Paleo approach and think it is very similar to the alkaline diet in a lot of respects – but I have to say, there is actually less quantifiable evidence to support the paleo approach.

My husband had a recent heart attack and we believe that it was due to the fact he had suffered with gout which was an inflammatory disease. A few months later inflammation has occurred in his lungs. We had tried to reduce the acidity and become more alkaline but we never really achieve the high scores of 7 plus. Preparing the meals are confusing and half the time I don’t know what to cook or what to buy other than green vegetables. Depressed and frustration has settled in but I know we have to accomplish this if he is to be with me for the rest of my life.
I sooooooooooo need help and encouragement right now.

Hey John
Potatoes are not great, sweet potato and pumpkin are better. I’d stick to grapefruit as a fruit rather than a juice. It does still contain some sugar, and a juice would contain about 4 grapefruits, so you’d be getting the sugar from all four in one drink. Nowhere near as bad as most fruits, but still….

[Reply]
Hi Ross,
I, like Karen, have only been able to see the first video. I am assuming that the other three will be re-posted soon?
I am a newbie, and have just started looking into the alkaline diet, downloading food charts and such. I do find it difficult, because as you know everything looks like a salad at first, and I’ve never been a fan of sour lemon water. It is also difficult to break the sugar habit, and it can be even more discouraging to read that it is best to avoid a lot of sugary fruits. Maybe I’ll get used to it.
I am trying to take things slow, though. That, and I have to finish up eating the non-alkaline food in my cabinet. I hate to waste food.
I do have a question, that I haven’t been able to find much information on. It appears from the food chart that nearly anything Omega-3 is alkaline, is this true as a general rule? Also, not that I eat a lot of butter, but one of the latest things here in the United States is the spreadable butter made with olive oil. I was wondering if this did any cancellation of the normal acidity of the milk used in the butter, and if it is one of the better options as a sometimes treat on a slice of whole grain bread or toast.
Thanks! Let me know if you just simply don’t know. I’ll understand, it’s hard to know everything.

Hi Ross
it does make sense to stick to what you like to eat rather than to be complex.

Have not looked back, and find it really enjoyable. As you say in the video clip, it’s about planning and being relaxed about a transition period. So 30 days in and about to travel and i feel confident that with your charts, (constantly in my handbag) it will be a fun and adventurous time. Thank you

Hi Keri
It all depends on the state your body was in before you started. I find when people take a few extra days to start showing the more alkaline pH it is because it is taking longer for their body to get the acid buildup out. BUT all of a sudden there is HUGE improvement!
Use the energy and sleep beenfits to keep you going and motivated!
I assure you it will come

It is a challenge for most people to change their eating habits of a considerable part of their lifetime.
The first step i took was to compare what i was eating and swop it for others in the Alkaline list which is what you have just been talking about in your video.
It is going to need a bit more forward planning but i am determined to make it work for me.

With help from naturapaths and skin specialists, my skin is not improving and I was wondering whether the alkaline diet is stirring up the toxins in my body and is aggravating this skin inflammation? I have been told I could get worse before I get better – I just hope this is true because I’m SO uncomfortable and itchy. I look like I’ve aged 20 years over the past few weeks. Before now, I ate a highly acidic diet – I was totally unaware of the 80/20 rule! I’m so happy I found out about it before it was too late! Good on you – very inspiring indeed!

Hey Ross,
This is all very exciting, frustrating and educations….. all at once!!
This is all very new to me, I started about 1 month ago and I have my great days, my averages days and absolute blow out days. Your video, Alkaline Diet Made Easy, has an important message that is easily forgotten when your head is full of ‘what can I eat’ questions. I will now be reminding myself that each meal I manage is better than not and to keep going as it will get easier. Even after a month, although I have a long way to go, it is getting a bit easier. About 10 days ago I realised I needed to plan my family meals more if I was ever going to succeed…. so after todays video, I guess I am on the right track with that line of thought.
I do have a quick question. I have purchased your Diet book, which I am just waiting on delivery (I’m in Australia) but every time I google alkaline foods not only do I get conflicting information, it’s very hard to get a complete list where I can just look a food up. I actually love to cook!! I have read that you deal with how the body treats the food and I understand where some of the conflicting information comes from. My question, is does the diet book have a clear and comprehensive list of which foods are alkaline or is there another book I can buy or something I can download. I have downloaded the 1 page acid/alkaline charts. I’m a mum and trying to keep my young boys feed whilst my husband and I are trying to move towards an alkaline diet is challenging. I’m also believe that some foods eaten on an empty stomach are different. If I just keep reading will I found out more about this??
Before I finish, I just wanted to say that I think you’re doing a fantastic job. I came to hear about this during a Tony Robbins UPW and I have learnt so much in just the month I have come across the alkaline concept and most of it has come from your great little videos and your website. Your passion about an alkaline diet/lifestyle is infectous.
I can’t thank you (or Tony Robbins) enough.
Cheers (with a green drink, of course)

Well your web page is so imformative and helpful. We are making some progress – thanks to yourself and to Dr Young. I bought The Ph Miracle. Am clear in my mind as to what I need to do and will endevour to make tiny foot steps.
I have just learned of a friend who has been given the shattering news that she has pancreatic cancer which has spread throughout her body like fire, in only a few months. She was told that medically nothing can be done to save her and that she can only expect to live a further 3 – 6 months. She is 30 years old, happily married and has a baby boy not even 12 months old.
She is a fighter by nature so I’m sure she will appreciate all the information I have passed on regarding your web page and of course The Ph Miracle book. She is far too unwell to look after herself but is already drinking home made green juice prepared by her mother.
Keep bringing it on Ross! We are sitting on the edge of our seats – glued to the screen!! Can’t wait for the next videos’.
A huge THANK YOU.

Hi Carole
So sorry to hear about your friend – that is terrible news, but great to hear she is a fighter. NEVER give up.
You might find Dr Young’s youtube channel to be inspiring as he has lots of ex-cancer testimonials there:

Hi Ross,
I hope you don’t mind if I bombard you with some questions!
1. I think you may wish to slap me on the knuckles with a metal spoon for this one but I was wondering if V8 100% veggie juice with the addition of a scoop of green powder would work as a green drink substitute for the days when I am too lazy to clean my juicer or don’t have time?
2. I tend to add my pH drops directly to 1.5L Evian bottles to sit at throughout the day. How do you feel about alkaline water being sipped from plastic containers, should I switch to glass? Sorry, I know this is a bit of a random and off topic one but I thought I would fire it at you as you are such an all seeing all knowing chap!

I am very hopeful, having just listened to your first video. While I wait to watch the second video I would like to see about finding a way to make my water alkaline.
I understand there are products out there that can be added to water to change the acidity.
Do you know which are good? I will check the health food store today.

Hi Kris and Anne-Marie
I’ll answer your questions in order if that’s ok?
1. V8 isn’t great to be honest mate. It’s quite processed and ‘heat filled’ into the bottle/can which means any remaining nutrients are long gone. It is, of course, better than other soft drinks, but is no replacement at all for fresh vegetable juice.
2. Plastic bottles CAN be ok, but you want to make sure they’re safe. Have you downloaded my water guide here: http://www.energiseforlife.com/definitive-guide-alkaline-water-1.php – all plastics are explained there.
Anne Marie – pH drops do this! Read more here: http://www.energiseforlife.com/cat–pH-Drops-and-Capsules–PH_DROPS.html

Hi Marianne,
It all depends on what your diet was like BEFORE you started. If it was quite acid-forming, then you are likely to experience some detox symptoms as your body now knows it can finally get rid of all of the toxins it has been holding on to. The best thing you can do is stick with it(!), stay well hydrated and don’t let yourself get hungry.
This will pass soon.

Hi Ross,
I can only cook twice a week because of my schedule. Yes yes yes I should get a life, not work so much, but I need it keeps me sane.
I don’t think I will be having much difficulties cooking more Alkaline, right on you are, I can not do it 100% and don’t want to. Is the food if I prepare it as Alkaline as I can still Alkaline if I freeze it and reheat in the microwave. I hate cooking in the microwave but since I can’t go home everyday and cook at home I take my homemade food along, put it in the fridge and then I can only heat it in a microwave where I work. They don’t have a stove.
Looking forward to your answer.

Hi Olivia
Unfortunately microwaving is perhaps the worst thing you can do for your food. It destroys most of the goodness and also makes the food much more acid-forming. If you can, avoid microwaves altogether. I’ve not used one for 3 years now and I’ve never even thought about it – you don’t miss it at all. I’d say, you’re going to have to try and incorporate some quick meals into your diet such as salad wraps. Quick, easy and don’t need reheating!
Hope this helps.

It is really hard because I want a warm big meal a day.
I have tried it now for a week not reheating but it is simply not nice.
Eating alkalyne is a picknick. It is easy but only eating a warm meal twice a week is not my thing. Now it is okay because we are heading for spring and summer but in the cold winters….oh boy!
So not the alkalyne choices but the reheating is the problem.

It’s a question I get asked a lot and I wish I could give a more definitive answer! It all really depends on what you were doing BEFORE and what you’re doing now. There are so many variables! But keep on moving in the right direction, day by day and in no time at all you’ll be feeling fantastic. As with most things with our health – you get out what you put in…

Hi Stu
I can’t legally comment on any specific condition. However, I believe that eating a diet rich in live, fresh vegetables and low sugar fruits, excellent hydration, smart supplementation and exercise while cutting out refined foods, fast foods, beer, trans-fats, pizza, chips etc would benefit anyone’s overall health.
You can go either way -if you want a fast result ‘hit’ then doing an alkaline cleanse is a good start – or for more sustainable, and long-term results, go gradual.

Hi Again Ross& Friends! : ) Greetings from Oz!! : )
Don’t understand what the box above means…”website” what am i supposed to put in there!!??
My question is can we be too Alkaline??
My PH in the morning is usually 8 or 9!! I have been doing the Alkaline plan for 4 months! I am working hard to reverse my arthritis & reduce weight! So according to Dr Young principles i drink 7 litres of Alkaline / Green water daily! Also take clay & his salts & sea salt & Marine Calcium. Breakfast is 1 litre of fresh raw Veg Juice, 1 grapefruit, Lunch & Dinner have 2 salads a day with avocado! Just have the same thing every day! During this time the only “cheating” i have done is that a couple of times a week i have 2 teaspoons of ice cream, its so hard to stop at 2 teaspoons but i do it! Very frustrating coz i don’t know if i have lost weight coz can’t weigh due to the fact that i have been in a wheelchair for 3 months as i had a very bad car accident 12 fractured ribs & cannot weight bear on my fractured leg (8 screws & plate inserted) till end of March then have to learn to walk again! But i will do it!! Was on this plan before my accident but i know the Alkaline diet & water would enhance the process of helping bone growth & healing my body! : )
Do you have a good salad dressing that you use??
Beside the 2 tsps of ice cream, the only thing i have that is “acidic” is commercial salad dressing coz i have not got around to making my own salad dressing!!
What was your inspiration to start the Alkaline programme???
Did you have any particular health challenges!! It must be so great to be involved with Dr Young! Have you have the Live Blood Analysis? Hard to find someone to do it in Oz (in my area) the way Dr Young looks at it??!!
Contacting Dr Young via his website??
I have sent Dr Young through his PH Miracle sit,e a question 6 weeks ago, re can we be too Alkaline & i have bought 3 of his books! But i was so disppointed his group has not answered my question! I appreciate the fact that he must be extremely busy & in such great demand but i thought some assistant might answer sometime! Do you know if there is a blog site where he or his assistants answer questions???
Thank You so much for hopefully answering my questions! : ) ( I do hope you can? )
You must be doing a GREAT job helping so many people!
I sincerely look forward to hearing from you!
Wishing You & Your Staff a Happy Alkaline Day with lots of Light & Energy!! : )

i have a question, as I am currently breastfeeding and was wondering if it is safe to take chlorella?
Also since I was pregnant I started to eat meat againn after being veggie for 10 years.
All the meat I eat is organic and is cooked at a low temperature, what are your thoughts on this?
Does slow cooking reduce acidity of meat?
I have been following Weston A Price style diet, which uses a lot of diary (all raw, so alkaline)
would just like to have a bit more of an idea of how I can incorporate the two diets.
As I believe both are health giving and the research that Weston Price is fascinating regarding native people and their longevity.

Hi Ross & the team
This diet lifestyle is awesome, I have so much energy, I sleep better, wake up earlier ready to go, feel & look younger & have lost 1/2 stone in a week without feeling hungry, in fact I am fuller. The green drinks seem to satisfy my hunger.
I am now in the second week of the program & getting results on my urine ph which is now 7, really impressed with myself as when I started I was ph of 4.5.
Last night I fell off the wagon & had a bottle of wine with friends, it was a bit scary when I thought about drinking acid, it did’nt taste very nice either and it lowered my ph this morning, but with the lemon, salts & green drinks I have managed to raise it again. In future I will be thinking twice about having a drink, its not worth the damage!
Anyway thanks for inspiring me to change my lifestyle & keep up the good work.
Thanks buddy.

How do you cope with not having alcohol in a social capacity or do you? is it all about the moderation? Do you choose certain alcohols over others? Is there something I can take maybe before and after to help alkaline?
I understand smoking is a big no no as the cigarette contains sugar. Actually drinking wine and smoking cigarettes were always a real addiction for me and once I was on that cycle I found it difficult to get off. However if I went a few days without smoking I really had no desire and the same with wine, but when I started wine I couldn’t stop and yet I had no interest in other spirits. When I identified and gave up the foods which were causing my allergies I had no desire to smoke or drink wine. Now I know I reason!

Rye bread is still acid-forming, but obv nowhere near as bad as normal white. Sprouted is def the best and you can get this pretty much everywhere these days.
For greens in tablets Mega Greens are the best option – BUT promise me if you don’t take the greens as powder you will still get your 3-4 litres of water each day!

Could your UC be playing a role in your health just before this time each month? I would suggest making sure you get at least 3 tablespoons of omega 3 around this time and also up your green veg juices to make sure you’re getting plenty of chlorophyll – this should help with the energy levels and the bloating.

And you stated that if we were selling herbs we would no longer be able to, but are we still able to grow them???? Just curious and concerned thanks for all your help…..

Hey Nichole
“where’s the most accredited place for me to find information on the EU laws that could be changing”
I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW THAT TOO! The support we get in the industry is absolutely shocking and we get ZERO information until some complex sub-law changes slightly and we then get an instant threat to change everything or get sent to court.
There is absolutely no collaboration on this at all or support for retailers or practitioners. I found about that EU law from the comment here! Thankfully this doesn’t affect us, but with a slightly different product range…who knows what the outcome would have been.
We are REALLY lucky we have a great guy at the Food Standards Agency who has been an absolute legend with us and so supportive. Not sure what we would have done without him!
NOW, regarding your situation, the best way to stay active with the alkaline diet is the same as without the alkaline diet. Alkalising doesn’t and shouldn’t affect your workouts/exercise regime.
If nothing else get walking/running a few times per week at least.
For the herbs, you can grow any of these, you just can’t sell them to someone else or ‘prescribe’ them.

Hi Christine
Thanks for the love!
Licorice tea, like lots of other herbal teas CAN have lots of effects, positive and negative, and it is unfortunately a risky thing to just presume all herbal teas are good for everyone – herbs can be powerful!
I’m going to be interviewing a herbal expert called John Gallagher soon (learningherbs.com) so will go through this in depth with him.
From an ‘alkaline’ point of view, almost all herbal teas are fine – but look into what else they do too!

See below. There is no one thing you can do, it is a combination of lots of key things that makes the big difference. People get obsessed with their pH on pH strips – but while this is a good measure, THE WAY YOU LOOK AND FEEL is the best measure.
Eat alkaline, drink alkaline and exercise well and it will all be good!

I’ve been told that it’s good to “alkalize” my water by adding a pinch of non-aluminum baking soda…(I drink purified water that’s also been oxygenated). Do you agree? My ph certainly comes out alkaline when I do this, but I also heard that it’s only a “mask” and really isn’t doing that much good.

Hi Ross, I recently downloaded your food chart and was wondering why most of the grains and beans that feature on page 5 (The detailed list of Alkaline foods) also appear under the acidic section of your chart on page 4 (The At-A-Glance Acid/Alkaline Food List). Is this a mistake or have you put some acidic foods on page 5 for a reason? Just making sure I’m eating the right foods!
Many Thanks

There is an updated chart coming very soon as I have noted one or two typos on that one. There ARE some legumes that are acidic and some that are alkaline – but they shouldn’t appear twice!

After really bad Flu v12 months ago I had really chronic post-viral syndrome that affected all my joints and muscles making all movement really painful and difficult. Desperate to stop taking anti-inflammatory medication I searched the web for a diet that might help. I stumbled upon your web site and it seemed to make sense – so down loaded the food chart and decided to have a go! Because I was a vegetarian aleady I the main changes I had to make were stopping diary, eggs and wheat. The hardest thing I find is not drinking wine which is a very popular pass time amongst my friends!!
The fantastic news I wanted to share with you is that I am now free of the medication and pretty mobile again!! I have recently purchased the recipe book together with the 10 day diet plan which I am about to start! My goals are to loose weight that I gained during my uillness and get really fit for the summer. Thanks peeps!

Hi Ross – brilliant video. I have been alkalising for 9 weeks now and was going great guns……then had a 4 day family trip to Ireland last weekend and it all went to pot!!! ISome of the problem was my own – but I found some temptation of foods too great. Some were out of my control as we were in the country side and alkaline foods were not always on the menu. I came home and I feel sick, uncomfortable etc etc. I am back alkalising now so will be feeling great again soon.
BUT ……..I am now already getting panicked about a holiday I have coming up in 14 weeks time. I am going to Boston, USA for almost 3 weeks for a wedding. I feel I will be in the same situation as I was in Ireland….i.e where I am staying with family who have no idea what alkalising is…plus I dont like to offend people by not eating what they prepare and cook. PLUS again as with Ireland not all places I will be visiting with family will not have alkaline foods on the menu.
I serioiusly need a coping strategy in place for this trip so advice would be welcome
Thanks very much
Eileen
PS – Love the video, and the reason that my first 9 weeks were so easy was because I did plan all my shopping and meals as you mention in the video. This makes it SO simple to follow – so this is really a great tip for everyone

Hey Eileen
It is tough when you’re not in control of the meals being cooked – and you just have to do your best to stick to the core principles:
1) keep hydrated
2) drink your greens
3) have a salad with every meal (and FOR some meals)
4) exercise as best you can!
America on the East cost is a lot better than the West I’ve found in my experience so far for alkalising!
If you try and stick to those four principles then you will hopefully not feel too bad and you’ll maintain a decent level of alkalinity.

Hey Nic
Stevia is the best of a bad bunch. I know Dr Young uses is in some of his transitional recipes – but you should definitely use it sparingly and aim to transition away from it.
Licorice tea would be at least neutral, so its a good addition. I hear its good for digestion too…

If you follow Dr Young’s theory that there is only one sickness (over-acidification) and one cure (a good pH balance) then yes, this would be the case. My suggestion is that living alkaline (lots of fresh food, exercise, proper hydration etc) can’t hurt! Always check with a physician before making any big lifestyle changes though.

Hi Renee
It all depends on what your diet and lifestyle was like BEFORE you got pregnant. Basically you don’t want to do ANYTHING that could induce detox symptoms, or for toxins to be released into your bloodstream as this obviously will affect your baby. Same goes right throughout breastfeeding too.
So if you were using supplements like this for a few months before you were pregnant then you should be great, but if you are just starting now, I would advise you to be cautious.
Definitely check it over with a nutritionally aware health professional…

Hi Ross
I became interested in the alkaline diet when my friend had breast cancer and went to see Dr Young and thankfully got the all clear last year. My mum became ill around the same time however sadly died not long after a very short battle with cancer – we knew very little about the diet then.
I had my blood analysed 8 months ago and I have been trying to keep my diet going with limited success, it is very hard to make the transition especially when you have a family.
When I do follow the diet I do not feel that much better for it, I have IBS, painful breasts from time to time, joint pain and lots of sensitivities to some foods and supplements. I drink 1litre of water a day with lemon and take the PHruits and PHoliage (I am not keen on drinking it all day so I drink the required amount at once and then drink water for the rest of the day), I take PH drops, use himalyan salt, cook with coconut oil and am trying my utmost to cut out sugars. How long does it take to feel a whole lot better??? Any advice would be gratefully received. Many thanks Christine

I have just started the alakaline diet/way of eatting. I do feel much better eatting this way. I still get cravings for bread and sweets? What do you suggest, to help get past these cravings, I am trying very hard not to give into temptation, I have read about some kind of nut mixture that you can make that is bread like, Is there a receipe for this? What do you suggest?
I am slowly adding the alakaline way into my household. I have a type 2 Diabetic and a son with “Ring of fire”, ADHD. They are some what resistant to change, but I do the best I can when they eat meals at home.
My question is: What advise can you give if money is tight and still live alkaline for a whole family?
As of yet, I have not been able to purchase your products, supplements or cookbook, and the receipes you gave on line are a great start and a great guide.
I also have family in Japan in the military and some products and fresh vegetable are hard to come by. What do suggest to help them get started?
What do you suggest starting to purchase to help us all move forward to be more alakaline?
I look forward to seeing the other videos.

Hi Debbie – there are a LOT of questions in there and most will be answered by the next three videos.
With regards to your cravings, this will happen but will slowly go away, the best thing you can possibly do is not give in. If you are getting big sugar and carb cravings you need to eat something (not sugary or carby) because they will just stay there otherwise and drive you crazy.
Sprouted bread is a great option (available from Holland & Barrett and I think Tesco nowadays) and so are nuts and seeds. The fat in the nuts will help tremendously.
Stay tuned for the next vids – they’ll really help you in this situation!

Hello Ross:
I am looking forward to your videos. Now, I feel a bit the fool as I am a rather good cook and have been cooking personally and professionally for years. So, as I said at the start, I look forward to your videos.
I live in a rural community. I plan to do my own organic gardening this season, and want to start my own “grow op” whereby I can have fresh greens during the winter months. We do not have access to a health food store, and the big supermarkets carry a very limited supply of the right kind of grains and pulses to get the job done. I don’t have and don’t plan to have a credit card so internet ordering is not an option. Any advice?
Thanks again.

Hi Perrie
A good change of thinking might be to see it more as a lifestlye and less as a diet. This really isn’t like other ‘diets’ that are extreme, short term and nothing like you intend to eat in the future (after the diet).
This is a really simple approach to eating, drinking and exercising that doesn’t demand perfection, can fit in with your social life but get you amazing results.

Hi Ross. Thank you so much for your work. The world needs people like you.
I discovered alkaline diet few years ago, but the book just stayed on my shelf and I didn´t take it seriously until I got anxiety and stress. I didn´t have a chance to eat normal abroad and I got very stressed. When I arrived I immediately knew that the greens will make me feel better and I cut out sugar from my menu because I went to depression and I was feeling very bad. But after some months i just thought ok i think it´s enough… but my problems didn´t fade away so fast. And you are right, the problem is that when you don´t have a plan, you will fail. For example eat 70/30 each meal. I started to do this, but then again I couldnt cut out fruits. It´s really hard, but I used techniques like, 100% alkaline only in the evenings. I have thought about replacing foods: milk, eggs, cutlets, meat… with same kind of food. Does your recipe book have these kind of recipes? What can you tell about tinnitus Ross. Do I need colloids for this? That´s one of the reasons I´m trying to get on alkaline diet. And also are foods in your recipe book cheap, cause I find alkaline diet very expensive right now, although I don´t want to excuse anything, it´s worth this money.
Anyway it´s really hard when everybody around you eat “bad”. But I feel like I´m doing good. I want to buy your recipe book, does it contain all these recipes?
Thanks.

Thanks so Ross! I have gone through all these stages you talked about and yes – perfection was my main issue, so I’ve been trying to stay raw for 3 years now – always going off and on and my excuse is I have no health issues for now, so my off days aren’t doing me any harm, but that was until a few months ago that I started dealing with really bad allergies and it gets very bad when I eat sweets (my weakness…) this is a huge sign I have to take care of my health now -so this ends up being the only health issue I have to deal with.
I am very looking forward to your next videos, so I can easily transition for good and no worries about getting sick again!

A million thanks, Ross! This is my eighth day, still haven’t taken an OTC pill for my acid reflux. It isn’t gone but it is easier to control with lemon water, and occasionally, ACV. I haven’t fallen off the wagon yet, have not felt deprived, really not even especially hungry…here’s the BIG DEAL! As of this morning, 6 lbs. gone, with a goal of 40 lbs. more in mind. I did bend the rules a bit on Friday evening by having a glass of organic merlot, but I wanted only one glass, better than the usual two or three.
Do you have a resource for a more extensive list of alkaline foods? As I’m planning to order your recipe book, does it include US measures, or will I need to recaluculate?
It was a fortunate day indeed when I found you on the internet. Thank you SO SO SO much!

Shelley!
Wow! What another great comment to read first thing in the morning. Firstly – CONGRATS on being able to cut back on the reflux OTCs. Of course, if there are any prescribed medications for your reflux then I always strongly advise you talk this all through with your Dr.
That you’ve gone 8 days without giving up is just awesome – you’ve already done the hardest bit. Don’t stress about having a glass of wine – thats fine.
The alkaline food list here: http://www.energiseforlife.com/list_of_alkaline_foods.php is the most exhaustive list we have at the moment, and I presume you already have this? I am adding to it all the time and it will get another heap of food added in the next week or so!
For the recipe book – if you order the bundle (eBook and Paperback – it’s the same price as just the paperback) then the eBook is all converted into US. Once I can afford it(!) I will be publishing a specific USA paperback too, but the conversions are quite minimal. The feedback from both sides of the pond has been unreal.
I hope this all helps! Have a great day

Hi Nancy
Some people with acid reflux (see above) say it does, some find it uncomfortable. The simple answer is that there are SO MANY cool ways to get more alkaline foods, that I would just avoid the lemon water for the first few weeks. As your body gets back into balance you’ll find yourself able to introduce the lemons, limes, tomatoes etc.
Good luck!

The principle of 80/20 applies here – the cous cous should be no more than 20% of your plate and the other 80% should be lovely alkaline foods.
You can use wholemeal pasta or gluten free pasta as your 20%

I can’t, unfortunately, comment on any diagnosed condition, but I recommend staying away from using your own homemade supplementation using bicarb or hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide, especially, is sold in hundreds of different grades and strengths.
There are much more effective ‘pH drops’ products available now.
I really recommend read Dr Young’s pH Miracle asap – get the basics right and speak to a nutritionally aware physician. Are you in the UK?
The basics I would use for anyone looking to alkalise are here:

Thanks for your perspective, its really hard for me to please everyone, but I think my happy to sad ratio is about 95:5 so far so I’m going to stick with what I am doing.
The next few videos are much more meaty (excuse the pun).

Thanks for the video! I learnt about the alkaline diet a couple of years ago and have been gradually learning and improving. I just recently discovered your website and it has been really helpful.
I have just started to not eat diary and have a couple of questions 1) is Goats milk/cheese considered diary and is it acidic? 2) If so what foods alkaline foods are high in Calcium?
Thanks

Hi Alan
If you eat a good varied (alkaline) diet you will never be short of calcium. Calcium is one of the most alkaline minerals and so is prevalent in a LOT of alkaline foods such as romaine lettuce, celery, broccoli, sesame seeds, fennel, cabbage, summer squash, green beans, garlic, tofu, Brussel sprouts, asparagus, oregano, rosemary, parsley, and kelp.
Spinach and sesame seeds are even higher and a couple of serves of either will give you over 50% of your daily needs (1000mg).
The body actually needs very little and the reason why so many people feel like they need so much is because eating an acidic diet causes the body to pull calcium from the bones to buffer the acids.
Goats products are slightly less acidic than cows (thanks to less lactose/sugar) but are still mucous forming.

Dear Ross, I really like the alkaline diet and I am working on putting it in more and more for the past month.
I like salads A LOT. So I eat these for lunch and for dinner. It is a good salad with a lot of various raw things in it (cucumber, tomatoes, green salads, endives, avocado, olives etc.) and I make really nice dressing with Olive Oil, lemon, oregano and Himalaya salt.
For Breakfast I never used to eat much so I eat almonds that have been in 12 hours water before. I drink 9.5 water.
I am not overweight, just a bit to loose in the right places, like 3 kilos.
I am doing the diet I see it is very good and I medically need it. I had an accident 3 year ago, had a big hematoma on my leg as a result and my body could not handle the stuck blood in the area, and I had scar tissue from it and from the operation I also needed to handle. The muscles on the right side of my body are giving me a rough time since this accident so this is why I do this diet, and exercise + I take vits. I have been at doctors and hospitals… bouncing.
So I want to stick to the alcaline diet as best as I can. I have improved my style of eating a lot since the past month, as I liked sugar and pasta, pizza, fruits used to be my breakfast…
I work a lot, from morning to night and the place I work cooks the meals, so now I do my own salads and I like it very much. But I do see I miss to eat something more consistent, specially since I started to go swimming every morning to get the blood circulation going to handle the scar tissues I have.
My questions are:
1. What can I eat that is more consistent, does not take cooking, and is alkaline. I cannot eat almonds only or again… for breakfast it’s enough. At lunch I eat a good salad, that’s fine, then at 18:00 again, but I need something more consistent with it. Right now I eat ecological brown bread with a thin slice of cheese and salami, not alkaline… Would like to replace it if possible.
2. What can I do to increase the size of my breakfast. I do not feel like eating in the morning, I eat my almonds and I am fine and then at lunch I eat a good salad.
3. What is good snack late at night, rather than eating something that is not alkaline.
Yours, Anne.

Hi Ross,
Informative video thanks, I have been intoducing both myself and my family to a more alkaline diet over the past few months – I was researching water ionizer machines when I came across this article
http://www.chem1.com/CQ/ionbunk.html
This has left me feeling somewhat confused and wondered what your view on this article was,
regards Tony.

Hi Tony
That is the single most misleading and misinformed page on the internet, from the same site that rubbishes EVERYTHING that isn’t a pill or branded medicine. Also included in their list of things to bad mouth are acupuncture, meditation, reflexology…literally all alternative medicines and especially anything based in traditional Chinese medicine.
Acupuncture is SO well respected now that most hospitals offer it as part of their treatments – yet this site thinks it is phoney.
Regarding the crap he talks about ionized water, firstly he makes the mistake of not even understanding what ionized water is or how it is made.
It would take me all day to go through the whole thing, but in short my stand is this:
The vast majority of sickness and disease in modern society is caused by one or a combination of:
1) Oxidation (aging) of cells in the body & lack of nutrients
2) Chronic dehydration
3) Over acidification
I have tested and put on video absolute proof that water from Chanson ionizers:
1) are strong antioxidants (i.e. they stop oxidation/aging of cells)
2) are at the very least as hydrating as normal water (but research shows the ionized water is more hydrating)
3) can produce water at a pH you desire between pH 3 – pH 10.5 – so it is alkalising.
These three points are pure fact – it is an antioxidant, it is hydrating and it is alkaline. I literally don’t care about any other claims, counterclaims, lies or truths – these three things – the most important things – are fact.
I challenge anyone to test the water from a Chanson Ionizer and find the water is not alkaline and antioxidant-rich. Or hydrating.
I think the author, Steven, of the chem1 site is missing the point rather wildly.
Here is Dr Young’s breakdown of this: http://articlesofhealth.blogspot.com/2010/07/scientific-nonsense-and-dis-information.html

Hi Ross, Your words have been so encouraging to hear! Last June I went on a yoga surfing holiday, where the food supplied was based on the principles of the alkaline diet. Needless to say I felt absolutely amazing when I returned home. Like yourself I fell into the cycle of the all or nothing approach, feeling terrible that I couldn’t sustain this approach. Your approach of not being perfect all of the time is so refreshing to hear and instills me with a great deal of optimism! I’m ready to give it a go. Keep up the good work!

Hi Amy
There certainly ‘could’ be – as the body is doing blood stuff during that time, and your diet might change too! Its not my area of expertise, but I would give you the advice I give to everyone who is tracking their pH:
Track with as few variables as possible (so do it at the same time under the same conditions as much as possible) and track over the long term and look for trends. If you do this for two months then you might see the same pattern over and over.
Hope this helps!

You and the company has to get the payment plan available to us in America. If you made that plan available to us, I know in my family alone you would have 10 more purchases. You would leap right over Enagic Kagen water. If Americans knew that they could have PH water for $45-65 a month you purchases be 10 fold. I am one American who is praying for the day you make it available at that monthy rate, it fits right in with my budget. Please let me know what your future plans are for American payment plans.

HI Jess
THe lightheadedness could be from either: a) slight detoxing or b) not enough calories in.
I recommend using an omega oil supplement (cold pressed, fridge stored in an amber bottle – not cheap fish oil caps from the shelf) daily – up to 3 tablespoons per day. This will solve both of those potential reasons and make you feel great too!

Remember you can ‘warm’ all of my soup recipes and they still remain ‘raw’ – raw food rules state that you can still warm things up to the temp where you can still put your finger in it!

Hi Ross all help gratefully received especially as i am battling cancer but the recipe book does cook the food which is fine but Dr Young does not advocate that as the food loses its value my family wont eat raw so what is right? is it ok to cook the food or not.

Sure is.
IF you look at any of the recipes in any of Dr Young’s books 90% of them are at least partially cooked.
Try to get into the habit of having a raw salad on the side of each meal so you get a balance of cooked and raw.

Nice resource Ross. I look forward to the rest of the videos.
With regards to the detox effects from the Chanson water ioniser in particular, I definitely recommend starting at the lowest setting and increasing slowly over a number of weeks. I’ve been eating 80%+ alkaline for the past 2yrs and I even got headaches from using the ioniser, so I turned down the pH setting to 8.3. I’m now at 9.2 (after nearly 5 weeks of use) and the goal is to get to 9.5.

Thanks Ross,
Sounds like great advice. It’s like everything really, if it’s not easy to do, it will tail off eventually.
I have tried a few times to be more alkaline, usually after reading a book like the PH Miracle or The China Study. I get really enthusiastic and go all out to change, but then life takes over and I go back to my old ways and then just feel guilty about almost everything I eat because I should know better!
I have purchased the water RO filters, sprouters, juicers and these have now become dust gatherers! I have in my mind that it will become my new years resolution to have another go at moving towards an alkaline diet again, so I am hoping your advice will help me to stick to it and enjoy it.

What other thing, except acid food can rise pH of our body, such as computer? mobile phone? wires? stress? gases? acid rains? Tell me more about that.
By the way, I mostly eat alkaline food, raw food, but, I eat a lot of fruits and sometimes I eat sweets – it is my passion
love sweets… still. I rid of cigarettes, coffee, sweet drinks… but chocolate it’s my favorite. But I know, when I stick to alkaline food, my need for sweets is less, it makes balance, and do not need sweets….

Hey Maggie
Sounds like you’ve made great progress – congrats on all of the acids you’ve eliminated – especially coffee and cigarettes.
There are a heap of things outside food and drink that can cause acidity. I remember Dr Young saying that stress and other negative emotions can have more of an effect on our blood than food! Other things I look out for are some of the things you’ve mentioned such as wireless, mobiles and unnecessary electrical devices (although obviously I still do use these things at times, I don’t have wireless at home, keep my mobile out of my pocket as much as possible).
Other things I don’t use are:
- aluminium based deodorant
- microwaves
- hairdryers
- chemical cleaning products
- chemical containing soaps, shower gels, shampoos etc
I’ve written a blog post on some of this stuff here: http://www.energiseforlife.com/wordpress/2009/07/03/emf-safety-protect/

Hey Suzannah
Thanks for your nice feedback. You’ve got me – I remember straight away you emailed me about alkaline baked goods didn’t you! So sorry I didn’t respond right away. Basically it’s a yes and no. There are few things truly alkaline that are baked. Baking generally reduces nutritional content and if the item contains fats then most fats become less healthy once baked. I have included a pumpkin bread recipe in my recipe book which is pretty good.
I would suggest making baked things as healthy as you can – but then include them in the 30/40% of your meal that is in the moderately acidic part. So for instance if you had the baked pumpkin bread you could have this with a salad or some avocado and tomato, or with hummous…
Hope that helps. I’ll email this to you too so you don’t miss it – there are a lot of comments here.

Thanks for the info, but agree with the comments below that you could have got to the point in a 3rd of the time! Agree that planning and prep are the only ways to make this work – but the point you touched on is that when you have a busy job/life doing long hours it just isn’t practical and leads to failure. You can’t always carry around or bring along a packed alkaline lunch, and if you end up working late you can’t get home to cook and eat the alkaline meal you had planned – so some more tips about how to get around such issues would be helpful. Cheers

I understand that for some it would be better if I got to the ‘teaching’ part quicker, but the vast majority of people here are just beginning their journey and this is the first contact they’ve had with energise or me, so I believe it was important to give some background on myself so that you all understand that I’ve been through the struggles and the starting journey to being alkaline just the same as you guys.
When I first started I didn’t have Energise (we didn’t create energise for ages after we started living alkaline, or trying to), didn’t have the supplements, didn’t know Dr Young etc. I know there are a lot of people who would just think ‘Oh, it’s easy for him – he doesn’t understand what it’s like’ – so I wanted to show that I do understand your challenges, frustrations, fears, etc.
The next three videos are all pure content, the story time is over – now I’m going to give you the ‘meat’ and kick some asses.
Hope you enjoy
Ross

Hi Ross, I think you go on too much about yourself and what you do! It seems like you’re never going to get to the point and when you do it feels like dooms day because I’m going to have to sit through more 18 minutes videos for 2 minutes of info and I don’t have that much time or interest in the content if they do!
I don’t want to be critical but you have to become more professional. This is positive critics! Please don’t take it badly.
You have worked a lot so give yourself a better chance by speaking only about being alkaline.
Thanks for you efforts.
Best wishes,

Hi Toni
Appreciate the feedback. I’m trying to do the best I can and I’m just human like everyone else. It’s really tough trying to please everyone and it’s frustrating for me because I want to! I’m getting 75% of people saying ‘great video I really love it and it resonates’ and 25% saying ‘too long’. What do I do?!
As I explained earlier, the reason for telling my story was so that everyone can understand that I started right from the beginning too, like most of you – I wasn’t privileged, I didn’t have any special tools or contacts – I was a total novice starting from scratch. It wasn’t to go on about myself for the sake of it! It was so you understand that I know your frustrations and hurdles you have to overcome, so you can have faith that I know what I am talking about when I say I can get you past them.
I really didn’t think I was being unprofessional. I’m honestly doing my best and you know, I think it’s better to have someone trying their best to teach and help people (even if they’re only half decent) than having nobody making the effort at all.
I really do appreciate your feedback and thanks for taking the time to write to me – but I wanted to make clear that I am trying to do as well as I can!
Have a fantastic sunday, wherever you are – and please do give me your feedback on the next video too!

RE protein for sports guys
Given up coffee, soya drinks, nuts, refined sugar & have been predominantly off meat/dairy for some time. But been feeling bit weak, after weights/training etc. So got hemp & brown rice protein which helps, plus almonds. I still have a few eggs now and again. Any tips for protein sources.
PS goat milk I do find good post-workout: 25 of protein too in 3/4 litre! Ta 4 that one.

Hey Ross, well done i think you are doing a great job. This has been a real passsion of mine for many years but now it is so much easier with your resource to source products on one site.. one query, you recommend a breakfast of porridge oats ( i make mine with goats milk) with sliced banana…A little confused, I thought we should only ever eat fruit particularly banana ( which i understood should always be eaten on its own) away from other foods under food combining principles

That breakfast is a transitional brekkie, in the long run for your oats I’d get rid of the fruit and add some seeds/flax etc.

Hi Susan
To begin with I wouldn’t put pressure on yourself to change your weekend habits – begin by getting your weekdays sorted. The better you do in the week and the healthier you feel the less you’ll want to drink at the weekend. Even then, a few drinks is OK as long as you’re keeping hydrated and following it up with being healthy the next day. Make it DOUBLE priority the next day to start the day with a veggie juice and get your 3-4 litres of water the day before and after at all costs.
Remember – baby steps…

Ha – the best alcohol? OK, I could be high and mighty over it and say ‘no alcohol’, but that would be bull**** and won’t help anyone. Try to stick to drinks that can be mixed with hydrating fluids like tonic and soda and stay away from beer.
Follow the advice I gave Susan, above

Hi Nan Lee
The alkapod is OK. It does a similar thing to our Alkaline Jug and the alkaline stick I reviewed here: http://www.energiseforlife.com/wordpress/2010/10/31/alkaline-water-stick-vs-alkaline-water-ionizer/
What it DOES give you is water with a pH that is approx 2 pH higher than where you started. But what it DOESN’T GIVE YOU IS:
- filtration
- antioxidants (low ORP) – it simply doesn’t no matter what the marketing says, I’ve personally tested it
- microclustering (added hydration)
It does a similar-ish job to pH drops, but is nowhere near as effective as an ionizer. I use my Alkaline Jug at work or when I go overseas and it works well for that purpose, but comes nowhere near to replacing having ionized water at home.

Hi, I’m 39 years of age with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer 3 months ago. I have 5 beautiful children which I would like to see grow up. I believe the acidic diet I has contributed to an acidic cytoplasm surrounding my DNA in my cells, which has then switched on the oncogenes to create the cancer.
I am finding it hard to swtitch so look forwrad to the next few videos. However can you tell me if it is worthwhile buying those water alkaline filters? If so, which one? What else can I do to change as time is critical for me. Thank you.

I find this video goes on way too long about you before it gets to the point. I am realyl intrestsed in this subject but find you go on and on and about nothing before you get to the real key areas. I don’t mean this negatively (I listended to the whole thing because I am intrested) but found myself frustrated at how long it took to get to the point. And then for hte main point to be about meal planning it was a bit antclimatic, given I am already on that journey. I would really suggest making these shorter and and less repetative if you want ot keep people’s attention. I am not sure I woudl sit through more videos if they follow this same format.

Hi Ross,
Nice to have your video.
I hate to sound like a school teacher……..but, I think that it would be helpful if you/someone spoke your script into a transcribing software (Dragon speaking) or typed up your script into an outline form. It would be easier to see the visual script and evaluate it. There are significant repititions in the script that do not add to the dramatic effect nor get to the “meat” fast enough. The video could be shortened, thus, to 12-15 minutes and make a tighter presentation. Perhaps you could sit at a desk for less movement and/or have a medium background and bounce, back-lighting..for contrast I’ll get off my soap box, Thanks for the video Enjoy your sharing!

It was a great video and I’m looking forward to the next.

Hi Ross,
The video is very informative, although it keeps stopping and starting every few seconds.

Hi Ross (me again!). I have also dealt with those interested in following a great nutritional protocol (my own programme, but based on pH) and through my observations I agree with all you’ve said and would also add that I came to realise that some people need (initially at least) even more structure than I thought. (so I have developed my programme to account for this, (even including cheat meals). One never stops learning about what makes folk adhere or fail. I have also prepared an article called ‘permission to fail’ which examines the point at which we fold and why (I deal with fat loss in my gym more than anything else so it pays to try and nail this subject). Love it! You are absolutely right – preparation is key and many are so black and white that one little slip is a disaster and they revert back again. Keep up the good work I will continue to check in!
PS Since I first came across you I am now meat and practically dairy free since May, (was already wheat free as intolerant) now alcohol free and sugar is very minimal. Eating out is the hardest I find and I hate making a fuss or feeling ‘percious’.
I also recommend The China Study (which backs you up in pH – almost entrirely) and Health Wars (again – reduces animal protein to tiny amounts). More and more studies are veering towards alkaline even if they are not called this or indeed recognise it.

It’s frustrating that there isn’t more information besides the basics. It seems like a great opportunity but it feels like if I want the “real” solutions to becoming alkaline I have to spend money or spend time trying to figure out how to even watch the video. Hi Ross
Love the video. wierd hearing your voice! Didnt excpect that accent! I did your 12 week course nearly 2 years ago now and I found it so easy to follow. I built my new lifestyle around it and lost nearly 3 stone and completely changed my body. My asthma had gone within a week and my skin cleared up. However, without once the 12 weeks was up, I started to slip, without the same support I laxed a little and gained a stone back on. I stayed vegan but went back to some sugars and breads. But after 2 years I stopped feeling as energised. I read that its extremely difficult to be healthy and vegan. So i started drinknig unpasturised milk and felt loads better. I have tried a few times to become more Alkaline and I think it will suite my lifestyle to be less strict but incorperate the majority of the “rules”. I have discovered that my asthma was caused by diary (although I’m fine with pastrurised diary in small amounts)
I have a question about Agave syrop, its in the PH diet book, but it tastes sooo good, surely it cant be alkaline? is it small amounts?
Of the non alkaline things i eat wich do you think I should DEFINATELY stop eating?
eggs, 85% cocoa dark chocolate, cacao, seedy bread with yeast, rice noodles?
Thanks Ross!

Hey Janni
That’s fantastic news about the course. I can’t describe how much it means to me when I hear that my course has helped someone so much. It honestly makes my week.
Now with regards to those foods, with the exception of eggs (which I’d limit) they can all form part of your 20%-30% acidic foods, none are too bad. The probably with the bread and noodles is that we’ve traditionally made these the biggest part on our plates. So try keeping your noodles to a smaller portion and have your sandwiches with just one slice. Agave could certainly be a lot worse. It is still sugar at the end of the day, but better than white sugar. Just, again, limit usage and use only when really necessary.
Remember – Dr Y still uses stevia in some recipes!

For those who don’t have time to listen to the 18 minutes
1/ Plan your meals for the week: they must be easy to shop for, fun and easy to prepare and enjoyable to eat.
2/ Don’t try to be perfect from day one, make your transition to alkaline diet a step by step process.
Cheers,
Patricia
[Reply]
Hi Ross, it is great to see your passion and enthusiasm for the Alkaline Diet and Lifestyle but is there any chance you could make the videos a little shorter because 18 mins is a bug chunk of somebody’s leisure time in which to express a couple of fundamental points i.e. 1. Plan your meals and make them satisfying and enjoyable. 2. You don’t have to be perfect all of the time, just more often than not. You are preaching to the converted so less is more, for me at least anyway. Please don’t be offended, I do mean it in the kindest possible sense but it I did find the sheer length of the video frustrating, I think you were about nine minutes in when you got to the first point and by that time I already felt reluctant to carry on watching.
Kindest regards,
John

Hi. I am 32 years young. I own and run a successful electronics security company, i am also a mother of 2, my eldest is 13 in January and my youngest is 10 in January, both girls. My life is hectic. I recently went to a Doctor who ran some blood test, the acid in my body is high, the incylin is also sky high. The reason i went to him was that for the past 18 months or so, my health has been a yo-yo much like my weight. My question to you is, with a busy work life (we operate 24hrs a day 7 days a week) and my girls (as you know a mothers work is NEVER done) what can we eat? I didnt think we ate “un-heathly” as we do salads with grilled meat, chicken etc.

Ross, my mother used to get gout if she ate tomatoes and the doctor said it was the acid in them…also, if I eat potatoes my arthritis gets painful. I have lumps on my finger joints and can’t believe I had a whole organic lemon orchard and didn’t eat them because I was told they’d give me reflux!! My old aunt swore by a glass of boiled water with a squeeze of lemon it every morning and lived to 93 – My reflux has eased on a part alkaline diet (trying hard) but need some info on which non acid foods to eat to ease the arthritis. I’m sure it’s acid based, the cause, I mean.
